2007

CLIENTS:
Good for Party - Chicago, IL
Progressive Life and Style/PLS Magazine - Chicago, IL
Going.com - Chicago, IL

PHOTOGRAPHER:

DESIGNER:
Jani Anderson

DESCRIPTION:
The Chicago Social Suite was an ill-fated collaboration between some of Chicago's brightest and most media-saavy event promoters. Working with DJ/designer Jimmy Singh, PLS and Going.com, MS&A developed a logo and brand identity for the then-slated-as-weekly event. Although the night died soon after it opened, the work done on the project was energetic, fresh and highly conceptual.

The Killswitch Collective - A Marriage of Creative and Code

Interactive design is a discipline which flourishes under constraints. There is a time in a web developer's life when they realize that neither programming or design is more important that the other: the coexist to their mutual benefit. The Killswitch Collective in Chicago embodies that left-and-right-brain approach in their work.

From KillSwitchCollective.com:

From a two-person company with roots in print design, we’ve grown quickly, but thoughtfully. We’ve taken on clients who share our passion for complete solutions and our pursuit to think bigger, even on the smallest projects. In the process, we have garnered loyal customers, glowing reviews, and a portfolio of work that speaks to our commitment to quality design and unsurpassable functionality. Today, we employ a staff of designers, programmers, and production specialists, who remain true to our founding tenets of creative energy and aesthetic diversity with an intimate, collaborative vibe. Spanning the corporate and creative, the local and international, our work is as varied as our clients.

Awesome. Check out their portfolio and prepare to be amazed.

Firebelly Design - Book Cover Bravado

Firebelly Design is a Chicago-based firm that is not afraid to kick it old-school. Their work on The Wonder: Portraits of a Remembered City by Tony Fitzpatrick is amazing. Visceral and energetic, their hand-drawn type and layout work pairs seamlessly with Fitzpatrick's illustrations.

From Firebelly:

Tony Fitzpatrick is a Chicago legend. He documents the wonders of our great city with visuals, poetry, and one of the most original voices of our time. He came to Firebelly for help translating his work into book format. This is the first book in a series we are working on with Tony.

David Anthony

DESIGNER:
Jani Anderson

COPYWRITERS:

DESCRIPTION:
MS&A worked closely with Lumen and Effen Vodka to develop promotional graphics for a fashion event entitled Let There Be Light. Playing off of the elemental themes of the promo copy, we developed a series of four graphics for the event, each element represented by a different photograph. We were fortunate enough to work with David Anthony, one of Chicago's finest art and fashion photographers, to design a graphics that were simple, eye-catching and clever. These graphics were used in the print and online promotions for this event. For the print promotions, we coupled the element on the front with a detail shot of the venue on the back that reflected that particular element. Can you tell?

Sigma6 was established in 1993, and in 1995 became the first web design company in the city of Detroit. As part of our marketing strategy, we attempted to have a gallery show in one of Detroit's up-and-coming art galleries at the time, the Cement Space 010. Although the show never happened and both companies are now extinct, these images show that creativity shouldn't be bound by expectations.
